Now’s The Time: Skydive For Charity
Don’t let Saturday’s weather forecast stop you from having some fun and coming out to help a great cause.
Coming up on Oct. 27, myself and so far approximatey 7 other people have agreed to take the plunge from 13,000 feet to benefit Combined Community Services Food Pantry. While it appears that Saturday’s weather will be on the chilly side, right now there is a very small chance for rain, so bundle up and plan to come out to support myself and friends as many of us – including myself – skydive for our first time.
Every month, the CCS Food Pantry feeds more than 1,960 people in Kosciusko County. Those are our friends and neighbors who are struggling to make ends meet.
Many people who utilize the CCS Food Pantry are single mothers working part-time jobs or earning minimum wage. Others have lost their jobs and are struggling to find work. Their salaries or unemployment dollars are simply not enough to afford child care, rent or mortgages, utilities and food expenses.
Saturday’s adventure will begin at 9 a.m. at Goshen Airport, with the jump slated to take place at about 11 a.m. Anyone wanting to take part in the jump can pay $185 for a tandem jump. Of that, $20 will be donated to the CCS Food Pantry.
Those wanting to come out and watch the event may also do so. The Skydive Great Lakes crew will be holding a chili cook off and also grilling burgers and hot dogs to help keep everyone warm.
Donations are still being accepted and are greatly needed for the food pantry. Please donate online by clicking on THIS LINK. Your donations are tax deductible and will help CCS stock the food pantry with adequate foods.
Your donations also allow CCS to buy food from the Northern Indiana Food Bank for just pennies on the dollar, meaning your cash donations go much farther.
