Operation Turkey Dinner Hosted By YMCA
Across the country, the Y helps people give back and assist their neighbors by offering them opportunities to volunteer, advocate and support programs that strengthen the community.
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Smith Street branch of the Kosciusko Community YMCA from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 3. Sign up for a time slot at www.redcrossblood.org.
For Thanksgiving the Y will be holding its 4th Annual Operation Thanksgiving Dinner. Those willing to donate a meal to a family in need can choose a family based on family size between Nov. 1 -14. Donors would then buy nonperishable food that will be supplied to the family for Thanksgiving.
In 2011, Y members, participants and staff were able to serve 67 families at Thanksgiving. You do not need to be a member of the Y to receive or give a meal. Those hoping to receive a meal can apply until Oct. 31. Applications are available online at www.kcymca.org or at the YMCA.
The Y is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. All the efforts and offerings of the Kosciusko Community YMCA are guided by the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Every day, the Y works side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure everyone regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Through September 2012, the Kosciusko Community YMCA provided $92,451.96 in financial assistance to make sure that happens.
