Deputy Credited With Two Arrests
In the first incident, which occurred at 9:44 p.m. Saturday night, officer Brad Kellar attempted to stop a 1979 Ford Mustang on CR 850 East at CR 200 North. Kellar activated lights and siren, but the driver of the vehicle accelerated and a pursuit began.
The driver, later identified as Anthony W. Pollard Jr., 46, of Pierceton, disregarded a stop sign at approximately 80 miles to hour. Pollard continued north of Kyle Road and attempted to turn into a driveway but lost control of the vehicle and slid into a ditch. Kellar held Pollard at gunpoint until an assisting officer arrived to place him into custody.
Pollard was arrested for fleeing law enforcement. The plates on his vehicle were false/fictitious.
In the second incident, which happened at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, deputy Kellar was typing reports and observing traffic in the Barbee Lake area when he observed a vehicle southbound on CR 700 East cross the center line and drive toward the squad car. Kellar noted the driver side tires of the vehicle were even in the grass off the side of the road in front of his police vehicle.
Kellar noted the driver, later identified as Brandon Ray Richcreek, 24, of Syracuse, struck a mailbox at 3858 N. 700 E. causing minor damage. The officer immediately pursued the vehicle with emergency lights and sirens.
Kellar located an open container of alcohol as well as six other beer cans inside the vehicle. Richcreek was intoxicated and admittedly under the influence of prescribed medication, namely Xanax.
