Roberta B. Sowers
Roberta B. Sowers, 89, of Indianapolis, Ind., and formerly of Leesburg, Ind., passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, Ind.
She was born on July 7, 1923, in Claypool, Ind., to Percy King and Florence N. (Cozens) Perkins.
She graduated in 1943 from Warsaw High School and was married on March 1, 1944, in Warsaw to Everett G. Sowers who survives. She moved from Valparaiso, Ind., to Warsaw in 1952, then to the Leesburg area in 1968 before moving to Indianapolis earlier this year. She retired in 1985 from Depuy in Warsaw after 33 years of service.
She was a member of North Webster United Methodist Church, Lakeland Quilt Club in North Webster, and Stripper Rippers Quilting Club.
She is survived by her husband: Everett Sowers, of Indianapolis; two sons: Steve (Rita) Sowers, Indianapolis; and Randy (Joyce), Mishawaka; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; a sister: Esther (Blaine) Sowers, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother: Wesley (Billie) Perkins, Andrews, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Beatrice Reiber; three brothers: Lloyd, Bud and Forrest Perkins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Owen Family Funeral Home SR 13 and CR 500 North, North Webster. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with Pastor David Smitley of the North Webster United Methodist Church officiating.
Memorial bequest may be given to the North Webster United Methodist Church, 7822 E. Epworth Forest Rd., North Webster, IN 46555. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
