WCHS Standout Schram Picks Cardinals
The Warsaw flavor on the Ball State University men’s golf team just got a little stronger.
WCHS senior standout Jon Schram announced Thursday night that he will join the Cardinals’ program in 2013.
Schram will be reunited with former Tiger teammate Tyler Ostrom, currently a freshman member of coach Mike Fleck’s squad in Muncie.
Schram teamed with Ostrom this past spring to lead the Tigers to a sixth-place finish at the IHSAA State Finals. Schram shot rounds of 73 and 74 at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin at the State Finals in June to finish at 147 and in a tie for eighth place in the final individual standings.
Schram helped coach Ben Barkey’s Warsaw squad win the Northern Lakes Conference title, its own Warsaw Sectional championship and the Homestead Regional crown during his junior season. He shot 77 in both the sectional and regional tournaments for the champion Tigers.
Schram has been a part of three State Finalist teams during his prep career at WCHS. The Tigers did not advance past the first round in 2010 and then placed seventh as a team in 2011.
Schram, along with returning teammates Tim Ahlersmeyer, Jonny Hollar and Jared Essig from the State Finals team of 2012, are expected back to lead the Tigers next spring.
