Area Teams Look For Regional Titles
The trio of Concord, Mishawaka and Mishawaka Marian are the final area high school football teams still alive in the state tournament.
The Minutemen, Cavemen and Knights are among the 40 teams statewide who will play in regional championship games Friday night or Saturday. Regional winners will then play in the semi state on Nov. 16 with the State Finals Nov. 23-24 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Concord (10-2), which won the Northern Lakes Conference championship, plays Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger (6-6) Friday at 7:30 p.m. in a Class 4-A regional contest at Zollner Stadium in Fort Wayne. The winner will face the winner of the Hammond Morton (7-5) vs. Mishawaka (9-3) game.
Mishawaka (9-3) hosts Hammond Morton (7-5) Friday at 7 p.m. at Steele Stadium in another Class 4-A regional contest.
Marian (9-3) hosts Heritage (10-2) Friday at 7:30 p.m. in a Class 3-A regional clash. That winner will then face the winner of the Hamilton Heights (11-1) vs. Eastbrook (9-3) game in the semi state.
