Lady Warriors Swim Past DeKalb
SYRACUSE — Wawasee opened its 2012-13 swim campaign with very little opposition from visiting DeKalb, winning 148-34.
Wawasee took first and second place in all 12 events, and in a half dozen cases, swept the entire event.
Leading Wawasee were Kayla Hershberger, Kendra Miller and Breanna Robinson, each laying claim to responsibility of four wins. Robinson won the butterfly (58.48) and 200 freestyle (1:54.89), Miller the 50 (27.95) and 100 freestyles (1:02.02) and Hershberger the individual medley (2:24.30) and backstroke (1:07.55).
“We had many great swims from all of our girls,” said Wawasee head coach Julie Robinson. “It was a great meet to see where we are at and prepare for our next meet.”
That opportunity will come on Nov. 20 when the Lady Warriors travel to East Noble for its only other non-Northern Lakes Conference dual meet. Wawasee opens its NLC table on Nov. 27 when it hosts Elkhart Memorial.
