Volunteers Return From East Coast
Three Kosciusko Red Cross volunteers have returned home and three remain on the ground in New York as other local volunteers prepare to deploy to the storm ravaged area to help people in New Jersey and all five boroughs of New York. Red Cross volunteers are providing meals, shelter and comfort to people throughout the region.
Deployment assignments are expected to open up as more volunteers return from the stricken region.
In addition to current volunteers who are awaiting assignment, the Kosciusko Red Cross is offering trainings this weekend to anyone interested in deploying to the East Coast.
Boot Camp will be held at the local chapter headquarters from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, starting with Disaster Services Overview and Client Casework, and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, with Shelter Operations and Simulation. These are the basic classes required for national deployment and/or to become a member of the local Red Cross Disaster Action Team, who respond to local disasters, like house fires.
