Corrections Officer Sentenced In Stalking Case
A Pennsylvania correctional officer accused of stalking his soon to be ex-wife was sentenced in a Kosciusko County courtroom this morning.
John Lloyd Dildine, 35, of Millville, Pa., was remanded to custody upon the sentencing of Kosciusko County Superior II Judge James Jarrette. Dildine was ordered to 365 days in the local jail and fined $332.
Under a plea agreement, a Class D felony charge of stalking was dropped. Dildine pleaded guilty to two counts of invasion of privacy, both Class A misdemeanors.
Dildine turned himself in to local authorities in August when he charged with stalking and violating an order of protection against his estranged wife. Dildine had previously been arrested in Pennsylvania for harassment against the woman. Kosciusko County Prosecutor Dan Hampton said Dildine was convicted of the Pennsylvania charge, but in that state harassment is not a criminal offense.
The woman was visiting family about two months ago in the Warsaw area when Dildine violated the restraining order by texting and sending a photo of himself to her.
According to a family member of the woman, Dildine again violated a protective order when he allegedly entered the home of his brother-in-law in the Leesburg area while the man’s wife was home alone and in the shower. The man said his wife heard someone come into the home and call out. The next morning they learned Dildine turned himself in to local authorities.
According to Hampton, Dildine was arrested in Pennsylvania on a harassment charge and there was an extradition hearing, but the judge in the case released him and ordered him to turn himself in to Kosciusko County authorities.
Hampton said Dildine’s supervisor in Pennsylvania initially suspended the correctional officer without pay pending the outcome of his case in Kosciusko County.
