VanWormer, Juarez Pace Swim Win
WARSAW – Ashley VanWormer and Cynthia Juarez were each double winners Tuesday night in leading the Warsaw girls swim team to a convincing home win.
The host Tigers won all 11 events contested in the pool to outscore Manchester 135-35 in its first dual meet of the 2012-13 season.
Warsaw, which had placed third in the Goshen Relays on Saturday, won all eight individual events and all three relay races.
VanWormer won both the 200 IM (2:32.45) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.59) races. Juarez was first in the 200 freestyle in a winning time of 2:09.17 and the 100 butterfly in 1:08.81.
Juarez also swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay team and the victorious 400 freestyle relay team. She teamed with VanWormer, Erin Sandberg and Jessica Haines to win the 200 relay in a time of 1:54.34 and with Haines, Sandberg and Malorie Rheinhardt to win the 400 in 4:14.23.
Other individual winners for the Tigers were Meghan Boston in the 50 freestyle (28.30), Sandberg in the 500 freestyle (5:54.64), Jessica Sweatland in the 100 freestyle (1:01.74) and Malorie Rheinhardt in the 100 backstroke (1:09.43).
Warsaw also won the 200 medley relay with the team of VanWormer, Sweatland, Malorie Rheinhardt and Margot Rheinhardt placing first in a time of 2:03.41.
