AKRON – The Tipppecanoe Valley girls basketball team took runner-up honors Saturday in its own Thanksgiving Classic.

The Vikings defeated Munster 74-45 in a first-round contest, before losing to Noblesville 78-42 in the championship game.

Vallley raced to a n 18-7 lead after the opening quarter en route to the win over Munster.

Caylie Teel popped in 17 points to pace the Vikings to the victory. Cara Hoffman scored 14 and Taylor Trippiedi added 13.

A strong second half effort carried Noblesville, now 4-3, in the title tilt. Hoffman and Trippiedi each netted 11 points to lead Valley.

Noblesville defeated Knox 69-35 in the other first-round game and Knox beat Munster 57-50 in the consolation contest. Knox is now 1-3 on the season and Munster is 2-3.

Valley, which is 2-2, hosts Plymouth Thursday night.
