Warsaw Girls Splash Past Panthers
WARSAW – The Warsaw girls swim team opened league action Thursday night with a big win over NorthWood.
The host Tigers won all 11 swimming events in posting a 127-54 home victory over the Panthers in Northern Lakes Conference competition.
Coach Nate Long’s squad posted 32 season best times in improving to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the NLC this season. The Tigers also had 15 career fastest times in the victory.
The trio of Cynthia Juarez, Ashley Van Wormer and Jessica Sweatland led the way for Warsaw as each won a pair of individual events. Juarez took first in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Van Wormer won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke races and Sweatland took top honors in the 50 and 100 freestyle events.
Erin Sandberg won the 500 freestyle and Malorie Rheinhardt captured the 100 backstroke for the winning Tigers.
Warsaw also won all three relay races with the 200 medley relay team of Malorie Rheinhardt, Ashley VanWormer, Liz Slough and Jessica Sweatland), the 200 freestyle relay team of Liz Slough, Cynthia Juarez, Jessica Sweatland and Erin Sandberg and the foursome of Cynthia Juarez, Jessica Haines, Meghan Boston and Erin Sandberg in the 400 freestyle relay event.
Warsaw hosts its own invitational Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
