Dennis D. “Denny” Woods, 60, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at his home.

He was born on Feb. 27, 1952, in Goshen, Ind., to Glenn L. and Louise E. (Culp) Woods. He was a lifetime Elkhart County resident except a short time in Idaho and graduated from Northridge high School in Middlebury.

He was married on July 3, 1983, in Syracuse to Beth Anne Savage, who survives.  He formerly worked at NIBCO in Goshen for nearly 25 years as a tool room supervisor.

He attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse and was a former short track race car driver at New Paris Speedway, Plymouth Speedway and M-40 Speedway in Michigan.

He is survived by his wife: Beth Woods, Syracuse; a daughter: Gabrielle (Brandon) Coward, Warsaw, Ind.; five sons:  Caleb (Jayne) Woods, Goshen; Steven (Kara) Woods, Goshen; Jerry (Rebecca) Woods, Goshen; Dennis (Jenifer) Woods Jr., Baraboo, Wisc; and Chad Woods, Goshen; six grandchildren; his father: Glenn Woods, Goshen; four brothers: Michael (Cynthia) Woods; Robert (Vicki) Woods, Goshen; Glenn Woods Jr., Palm Harbor, Fla.; and Patrick (Dawn) Woods, Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Arrangements are still pending confirmation from a son that is out of the country.
