Raiders Top Tigers In Pool
WARSAW – Perennial power Northridge showed its stuff by posting a 117-68 win over host Warsaw in girls swimming action Thursday night.
The veteran Raiders won 11 of 12 events, including all three relays, to capture the Northern Lakes Conference meet.
Junior Ashley Van Wormer was the lone winner on the evening for the host Tigers. Van Wormer took first-place honors in the 100 breaststroke race with a time of 1:13.18.
Seniors Brittney Walters and Ashley Owens each won a pair of events to pace Northridge. Walters captured first in both the 200 IM (2:11.69) and 100 backstroke (1:01.60), while classmate Owens won the 100 butterfly (1:05.70) and 500 freestyle (5:43.49).
Van Wormer also notched a second-place finish in the 200 IM for Warsaw. Also placing second in individual events for the Tigers were Jessica Sweatland (50 freestyle), Liz Slough (100 butterfly) and Malorie Rheinhardt (100 backstroke).
Warsaw, now 1-1 in conference action, returns to NLC competition Saturday morning at Goshen.
