Prep Roundball Wrapup
Nick Kindig had a big game Saturday night as the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team stretched its winning streak.
Kindig fired in 30 points as the Vikings posted a 68-56 win over John Glenn in a non-conference game in Walkerton.
Kindig’s hot hand carried Valley to its fourth straight victory. The Vikings improve to 4-1 on the season.
Logan Britton scored 20 points and Tanner Andrews had six points and seven rebounds for Valley in the victory over the winless Falcons, who drop to 0-5.
The win was the 697th for Valley coach Bill Patrick, now in his 44th season overall.
Drew McDonald led Glenn with 18 points. Tyler Prentkowski scored 13, Jacob Strong 12 and Austen Hayes 11 for the Falcons.
Valley plays at Peru Tuesday night and hosts conference foe Whitko Friday evening.
Trojans Fall at Marian
The grueling early-season road schedule continued for Triton Saturday night.
The Class 1-A No. 10 Trojans dropped a 63-50 final at Mishawaka Marian. The Knights, ranked No. 9 in Class 3-A, feature Mr. Basktball candidate and Notre Dame recruit Demetrius Jackson.
Marian, which lost 76-73 to South Bend Clay at home Friday night, improves to 2-2. Triton drops to 2-3. The Trojans have also lost at Plymouth and at NorthWood, two more area powers in Class 3-A.
Triton plays at Bethany Christian Tuesday. Marian travels to NIC foe South Bend Washington Friday night.
