Tigers Swimmers Roll Past Plymouth
WARSAW – The Warsaw boys swim team continued its stellar season Tuesday night with a convincing home win over Plymouth.
The host Tigers won 11 of 12 events to post a 144-34 Northern Lakes Conference victory over the Pilgrims.
Sophomore Spencer Davidson played a part in four wins for the Tigers, who improve to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference action. Davidson won both the 200 freestyle (1:55.06) and 100 freestyle (52.63) individual races and also swam on two of Warsaw’s three first-place relay teams.
Coach Nate Long’s talented team got strong contributions from a host of swimmers in Tuesday night’s dominating win.
Matt Wildman won the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:19.14 for the Tigers. Also victorious were Ethan Cook in the 50 freestyle (24.84), Andrew Thrasher in the 100 butterfly (1:01.52), Jayden Parrett in the 500 freestyle (5:13.46) and Josh Miller in the 100 backstroke (1:01.22).
Dean Katris continued to excel in the diving competition, winning with a score of 249.05.
The Tigers captured all three relay events. The foursome of Zach Taylor, Miller, Wildman and Parrett won the 200 medley in a time of 1:49.80. The team of Cook, Wildman, Parrett and Davidson won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:37.83 and the 400 freestyle relay team of Thrasher, Davidson, Parrett and Caleb Snyder also took top honors in a time of 3:40.37.
Warsaw swims at Elkhart Memorial Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. in another NLC meet.
