Milford Woman To Be Sentenced In Federal Court
Hayle Doty, 24, of Milford, Ind., pleaded guilty to felony offense of conspiracy to distribute marijuana in a federal court and will face sentencing next year.
Doty and Joseph Olivo, 32, both of Milford, were charged by Elkhart County authorities when methamphetamine and more than 100 pounds of marijuana was located in their then Rolling Prairie home.
Officers of the Elkhart County Interdictions and Enforcement Unit arrested Olivo and Doty on Sept. 21. The arrests followed an investigation that spanned about two months.
Law enforcement agencies determined during the investigation that Olivo and Doty were a major source of marijuana in Elkhart County.
During a warrant service on the home, police found 102.5 pound of marijuana, 5.5 grams of cocaine and 1.9 grams of methamphetamine. They also located more than $144,000 in cash and three handguns, including one that was reported stolen from Michigan.
The estimated value of the drugs that were confiscated was $93,000.
A 16-year-old was in the home at the time of the raid, but was not arrested.
Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis T. Hill Jr. stated in a press release, “It’s obvious that marijuana is still the centerpiece of illegal drug trafficking and is connected to violence and excessive amounts of cash.”
Olivo and Doty were placed in federal custody.
Sentencing for Doty has been set for April 4, 2013.
