Warm Up Your Winter With Philharmonic Music
The Fort Wayne Philharmonic returns to Manchester University for a two-concert “Warm Up Your Winter” series in January and February on the North Manchester campus.
A Thursday, Jan. 17, performance of the six-musician Freimann Ensemble promises an up-close experience in the intimate Wine Recital Hall. The concert begins at 7 p.m. with a program of music by Piazzolla, Brahms and Bartok. Tickets are $10.
Music lovers will want to return at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, for “Crossing the Stream,” a Chamber Orchestra performance in Cordier Auditorium. At the baton of Music Director Andrew Constantine and featuring Campbell MacDonald on clarinet, the February performance features works by Elgar, Tiensuu, Sibelius and Haydn. Tickets are $12.
Concessions in the lobby at both performances provided by MU’s Chartwells dining service will benefit the Faith & Hope Relay for Life team from North Manchester. Relay for Life raises funds and awareness to save lives from cancer.
Concert-goers can save with a series ticket to both concerts for $20. Tickets are available at the door, at MU Conference Services in the upper Union, the Office of Academic Affairs on the first floor of the Administration Building, or by calling the Fort Wayne Philharmonic at 260-481-0775.
