Cougars Claim Road Win
ELKHART – Emilee Catron led the way as the Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team used a strong team effort to post a win Thursday night at Elkhart Christian.
Catron poured in 16 points as the Cougrs used a big second-half performance in a 47-37 victory.
LCA, which had lost 58-41 to Elkhart Christian in a tournament Dec. 15, outscored the hosts 29-20 in the second half. The Cougars led just 18-17 at halftime.
Alisa Gross netted 11 points for LCA, which improved to 4-10 with the win. Jess Goss scored nine points and Frani Gerst had six for the winners. Megan Lang and Julianne Haines each scored two points and Maryl Gerst one for the Cougars.
“This is a good, solid win and demonstrates that the girls are playing together with confidence and looking out for each other,” said LCA coach Ty Propp.
LCA also won the junior varsity contest by a 35-18 count.
LCA hosts Argos Saturday night. Elkhart Christian (2-10) plays at LaLumiere Tuesday night.
