Malware Attack Hits WCPL Website
Warsaw Community Public Library’s website was attacked by malware around Dec. 20 and flagged by Google a day or so later. Those visiting the website saw or received a warning about malware and/or Blackhole Exploit.
The site is now up with no threats to patrons. “There was and is no threat to those patrons who had updated their virus protection program as far back as 6 months ago, reported Harper Apted, WCPL network manager.
The problem was taken care of and the malware is no longer with the website so WCPL wants everyone to be aware that there’s no reason for anxiety.
The only issue left is the loss of speaker contact information and program information under the library’s site calendar. The calendar is still under reconstruction with registration for programs needing to be made by phone (574-267-6011) or email ([email protected]) until further notice.
Anyone scheduled for a meeting room or presenting a program up to and including April are asked to call 574-267-6011 to reconfirm. For meeting room reservations talk to Stephanie Hershberger, for children’s programs talk to Patricia, and for adult programs talk to Val Fisher.
Ann Zydek, WCPL director said, “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. We will let the public know when the website is displaying properly again.”
