John Bourdon of New Hampshire made an unexpected stop in Warsaw Monday when the landing gear on the nose of his aircraft failed to extend.

Warsaw Fire crews, medics and police were on the ground at Warsaw Municipal Airport ready to rescue the pilot from a certain crash landing. (See full story and video of the landing.)

StaceyPageOnline.com followed up with Fulton County Aviation in Rochester today on why Bourdon was unable to make a landing at their site. According to Sharon Rogers, the manager of the airport, Bourdon was not turned away, but instead they suggested an option they believed would benefit him the most.

According to Rogers, Bourdon was welcome to attempt the landing at their location, however, he would not receive the same mechanical assistance after landing available at Warsaw’s airport.

“He was not really turned away,” said Rogers, “he could have landed here, however, we do not have a mechanic on the field. He would have had to bring in his own mechanic or make arrangements to get his airplane off of the landing strip.”

According to Rogers, the Warsaw airport was better equipped to handle Bourdon’s situation and she felt the suggestion to land in Warsaw was in his best interest.
