LaVille Tops Trojans
LAKEVILLE – There will be a new champion crowned Saturday night for the boys basketball portion of the annual TCU Bi-County Tournament.
Host LaVille saw to that Friday night by stunning three-time defending champion 50-48 in a semifinal game of the tourney at LaVille High School.
The host Lancers, who will meet John Glenn in the title game Saturday night, trailed the Trojans 23-17 at halftime Friday night. LaVille outscored Triton 18-6 in the third quarter to take a 35-29 lead en route to the win.
Andrew Hostetler drained seven treys to lead LaVille with 24 points. The Lancers hit eight 3-pointers as a team in the victory. Blake Berger scored 13 points and Nicholas Amor had 10 for LaVille, which improves to 9-3.
Triton star senior Clay Yeo netted 24 points in the loss. Tanner Shepherd had 14 points for the Trojans, who fall to 8-5.
Triton will get a rematch versus conference foe LaVille on Feb. 2, back in Lakeville again.
LaVille plays Glenn Saturday night in the title game at approximately 8:30 p.m. at LaVille High School. Glenn defeated Culver 52-39 in the other tourney semifinal game Friday night.
The Triton girls team, ranked No. 10 in Class 1-A, plays Class 1-A No. 2 and defending tourney champion Oregon-Davis Saturday night in the championship game of the tourney at 6:30 p.m. at LaVille High School.
