Warriors Pick Up Win Against Cougars
SYRACUSE — Wawasee picked up its first home win since Dec. 8 when it defeated Central Noble, 50-43, Saturday afternoon at Wawasee in boys hoops.
The Warriors (5-12) used a career-high 19 points from Gage Reinhard as well as 16 points from Alex Clark to rally past the Cougars. Reinhard made seven of nine free throw attempts, all in the fourth quarter, to help Wawasee rally from a 35-31 deficit entering the final frame. Clark scored seven of his points in the fourth and was 8-10 from the free throw line.
Central Noble (4-13), which have lost five of its last six contests, were balanced in its scoring attack, paced by Connor McCoy’s 12 points. Alex Vice and Brock Noe each had nine points and EJ Andrews added eight points. The Cougars jumped out to a 28-18 lead heading into the half, but were outscored 13-7 in the third quarter and 19-8 in the final quarter, hitting just four baskets altogether in the second half.
Wawasee’s JV pushed past Central Noble, 38-27, in the afternoon’s first contest. Stats were not made available from the JV game.
Wawasee will have a much tougher foe from the Northeast Corner Conference come to Syracuse Tuesday when 2A No. 8 Westview arrives, sporting a lofty 16-1 record.
