UPDATE: Jason McSherry Resigning, Caucus Set
Kosciusko County Clerk Jason McSherry is resigning.
The official notice will be made later tonight or early tomorrow morning, but McSherry told StaceyPageOnline.com that he is leaving office to assume the role of Trust Operations Manager for Lake City Bank in Warsaw.
“I was stunned, I had no idea this was coming,” offered Kosciusko County Republican Party Chairman Randall Girod.
McSherry explained, “I wasn’t really looking but the opportunity presented itself and it’s an opportunity I can’t pass up. I thought about it for a long time.
“Lake City Bank puts lots of capital into their employees for training and operations management is something I’ve always been interested in.” He added, “I’m also term-limited in the clerk’s office so I would’ve had to look (for another job) in a few more years anyway.”
About his position as county clerk, McSherry said he will most miss the task of operating an efficient and economical office for the taxpayers of Kosciusko County. “I’ll also miss my staff and the election administration” of the job, he added.
McSherry’s last day in office will be March 8. He begins his new career on March 11.
He was first elected in 2008 and started his first four-year term in January 2009. In November 2012, McSherry was re-elected for another four-year term.
Girod added, “I’ll miss working with him. It’s been a privilege and a pleasure to work with him and really everyone in that office. But, he’s leaving the position in great shape; phenomenal people work there.”
A caucus will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, to appoint McSherry’s replacement. Interested eligible candidates for the position must file a Declaration of Candidacy with Girod no later than 72 hours before the commencement of the caucus.
Declaration of Candidacy forms (CEB-5) are available from the Kosciusko County Clerk’s office, 121 N. Lake St., Warsaw.
The caucus will be held in the upstairs courtroom of the Kosciusko County Courthouse.
