OSSIAN – Whitko saw its boys basketball season come to an end Friday night in sectional semifinal play.

Heritage used a couple of big quarters to sideline the Wildcats 62-40 in the Class 3-A Norwell Sectional.

Heritage (9-13) advances to play host Norwell (16-6) in the sectional championship game Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

Heritage took a 20-9 lead after the opening period Friday night. Whitko rallied to cut the lead to 25-18 with a strong second quarter, but Heritage took control of the contest by outscoring the Wildcats 21-7 in the pivotal third period of play.

Senior Trey Weber led Whitko with 10 points. Alex Stoddard scored nine points and Dylan Cumberland eight for the Wildcats.

Whitiko finishes its season at 6-16.

Host Norwell defeated Mississenewa 69-51 in the other semifinal game Friday night.
