Incidents
Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following incidents:
- Feb. 26, 4:07 p.m. A Warsaw man complained of being threatened by a suspect over continuing issues from a civil transaction. Complaintant was advised to seek a protective order.
- Feb. 9-22, 12 a.m. to 7:02 p.m. Warsaw Supercenter reported a theft.
- Feb. 27, 3:51 p.m. After investigation while on a traffic stop, a male subject was arrested for possession of marijuana.
- Feb. 27, 5:37 p.m. A male subject reported that his son was bitten by the neighbors dog while it was running loose.
- Feb. 28, 3:06 p.m. Nancy Bennet advised that she was struck by a flat bed car hauler while attempting to merge back on to westbound U.S. 30. The driver of the hauler left the scene of the accident.
- Feb. 28, 8:53 p.m. A Warsaw officer reported being the victim of battery. The suspect was intoxicated and kicked an officer in the chest while Kosciusko Community Hospital staff was attempting to draw blood.
- March 2, 2 a.m. Police made a traffic stop for both suspicious activity and for several traffic infractions. The driver was found to have a suspended prior license status and was taken into custody.
- March 2, Kelli Busenbark reported a burglary and unlawful entry to her home when, upon returning home, she discovered a wrist watch was missing.
- March 2, 8:47 a.m. Lloyd Adams reported a burglary from his storage unit located at Quick Clean storage at 419 E. Winona Ave. The business had called Adams to inform him they had found the lock on his unit cut.
- March 2, Aaron Quance reported a burglary to his U-Store-It warehouse and a theft of the items from inside.
- March 2, 2:08 p.m. Paul Newcomer reported the theft from his motor vehicle when the magnetic signs on his company vehicle was stolen from the Menard’s parking lot.
- March 2, 3:34 p.m. After making a moving infraction stop, police discovered the operator of the vehicle to be suspended prior. He was arrested for the offense.
- March 2, 4:56 p.m. Police stopped a vehicle for a seat belt violation when a positive K9 alert was indicated on the vehicle. Several marijuana pipes with residue were located. In addition, the driver was cited for driving while suspended and for the seat belt violation.
- March 2, 4:59 p.m. Kohl’s reported a theft from the store.
- March 2, 6:24 p.m. A man was found dead at 223 W. Jefferson St., Warsaw. Police officers conducted a death investigation that is still underway.
- March 3, 4:43 a.m. During a traffic stop an adult male was investigated for operating while intoxicated. He was later booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.
- March 3, 3:30 p.m. Susan Stookey reported someone attempted to steal her vehicle was she was in her doctor’s office. The ignition on the vehicle had been tampered with and broken.
- March 3, 1:40 p.m. Dollar General reported being the victim of shoplifting. Two male juveniles were caught at the location and were transported by officers to their mothers. Their information will be sent to juvenile probation.
- March 3, 5:09 p.m. Domingo Gonzales was involved in a vehicle accident at the intersection of Park Ave. and Ross Ave. During the investigation it was determined that Gonzales had been operating under the influence of alcohol. Charges are pending blood results.

Officers of the Warsaw Police Department recently investigated the following accidents:
Tuesday, Feb. 26, 3:51 p.m. North Detroit St. and Lyon St. Drivers: Jessica Cervantes, 18, Lyon Street, Warsaw; and Tama Leek, 57, East Oak Lane, Warsaw. Cervantes was stopped waiting to turn south onto Detroit Street when she pulled out and was struck in the side by Leek, who was northbound on Detroit Street. Damages: up to $10,000
Wednesday, 4:48 p.m. East Center Street and Eastlake Drive. Drivers: Kelsey McGarvey, 18, North Roosevelt Street, Warsaw; and Sandra Katris, 54, Country Club Lane, Warsaw. McGarvey was eastbound on East Center Street and was just entering the intersection of Eastlake Drive when she struck by Katris. McGarvey was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital on complaints of head and neck pain. Damages: up to $5,000
Walton Boulevard. Driver: Stephanie Leek, 43, West Old Road 30, Warsaw. Leek was pulling into a parking space at Walmart when her rear right bumper struck the rear left bumper of an unoccupied vehicle. Damages: up to $1,000
Friday, March 1, 6:14 p.m. 540 E. Market St. Drivers: Susanna Gibson, 34, East Harper Road, Leesburg; and Shawna Benson, 26, North Lake Street, Warsaw. Gibson had just turned into a parking lot when Benson struck into the side of her vehicle. Damages: up to $10,000
Saturday, March 2, 6:10 p.m. Walton Boulevard. Drivers: James D. Gregory, 19, East Wood Drive, Rochester; and Rusty T. Meier, EMS C31, Warsaw. Gregory was backing out of his parking space and did not see Meier’s unoccupied vehicle behind him. Damages: up to $2,500
Saturday, March 2, 5:50 p.m. Lake City Highway and Commerce Drive. Drivers: Deborah Scharf, 57, 400 North, Warsaw; and Joseph Ream, 32, 800 West, Warsaw. Scharf was traveling east on Lake City Highway approaching Commerce Drive. Scharf disregarded a red traffic light and struck Ream’s vehicle, which had pulled out in front of her from Commerce Drive. Scharf complained of leg pains and a passenger in Ream’s vehicle complained of head pains. All injured refused medical assistance. Damages: up to $10,000
Sunday, March 3, 5:09 p.m. Ross Avenue and North Park Avenue. Driver: Domingo Gonzales, 33, Wexford Place, Warsaw. Gonzales was northbound on Park Avenue and went straight through the T-intersection at Ross Avenue. He struck large rocks and street signs. Upon arrival at the scene police attempted to perform a blood alcohol test, however, Gonzales forcibly refused to comply. Gonzales was bleeding from the nose and mouth and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for his injuries. Results of a portable breath test revealed a .27 alcohol level. Damages: up to $2,500
Sunday, March 3, 6:02 p.m. 777 Parker Street. Drivers: Nicholas Meadows, East Levi Road, Warsaw; and Perry Lennon, Ivywood Drive, Warsaw. Meadows attempted backing out of parking spot parallel to Handy Dandy Gas Station when he backed into a parked vehicle registered to Lennon. Damages: up to $2,500
