Free Electronics Recycling In Warsaw
In 2011, Indiana law made it illegal for anyone to dispose of electronics in the trash. That means Hoosiers have to find other ways to get rid of or otherwise recycle old or broken electronics.
Enrique Marrufo II operates PC-Recycling Service in Warsaw and it is a free service for everyone.
“I have always been interested in technology and how things work,” said Marrufo. “As a child I would tinker with all types of electronics. I drove my parents up the wall. They would come home sometimes to find the VCRs and clocks disassembled.”
About a year ago, Marrufo turned his attentions to trying to teach himself how to fix computers. Although he said, “I realized very fast that I was much better at breaking them than fixing them,” he had collected about 15 broken computers. Admittedly not able to repair them, he turned to recycling.
“ I am very proud to say that together – from those who have donated their computers and (myself) – we have recycled over 539 miles of cable and wiring and more than 100 computers and laptops,” Marrufo explained. “We are a new business and one I think would be helpful to our local community. ”
Currently, Marrufo maintains a Facebook page where he not only accepts broken and no longer used computers, he offers free pick up of such things as broken flat screen processors, PC towers and even old cell phones. Looking for cables for your existing electronics? PC-Recycling Service also has those to give or trade.
Marrufo is currently enrolled in Ivy Tech working toward a degree in Computer Science with a focus on computer programming. “After Ivy Tech I will continue my education and earn a Bachelor’s degree,” he said. “My dream is to work from any location with an Internet connection so that I can spend as much time with my family as I can. ”Anyone needing to recycle old electronics may contact PC-Recycling at 574-376-5285, or visit the Facebook page for more information.
