Nancy Ellen Booth
Nancy Ellen Booth, 67, of Pierceton, Ind., passed away at 12:40 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, in her residence.
Born June 28, 1945 in Warsaw, Ind., she was a daughter of Mary Ellen (Hawkins) Mowrey of Pierceton and the late John Frederick Mowrey.
A resident of Pierceton for most of her life, Nancy was a graduate of Pierceton High School in the class of 1963 before moving to Los Angeles for several years. Upon returning home, she began her career as a food service supervisor at area nursing homes including the former Prairie View Nursing Home in Warsaw for many years before holding the same position at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw for over a decade until her retirement in 2011.
She was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Warsaw. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her kind and gentle disposition with all around her, and her fantastic cooking which was the highlight of every family gathering. Nancy was a devoted and loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her mother, son: Dr. Scott (Lorrigan) Booth, Dover, Ohio; brothers: David (Betty) Mowrey, Virginia, Minn.; Dan (Irene) Mowrey, Lebanon, Ky.; Joe (Sally) Mowrey, Fremont, Ind.; and James (Christy) Mowrey, Pierceton; a sister: Rose Mowrey, Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces and nephews: Robin, Brenda, Tim, Paul, Jon, Charity, Danielle, Sara and Seth; aunts: Marjorie Mowrey, Columbia City, Ind.; Jeannie Hawkins, Amboy, Ind.; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a number of cousins.
Visitation will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home, Pierceton. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the funeral home. Services will be officiated by Pastor Bob Jarboe.
