Area Trio Tabbed To Officiate Finals
INDIANAPOLIS – A trio of outstanding officials from the Northern Indiana Officials Association have been selected by the IHSAA to work the Boys Basketball State Finals on Saturday.
The group includes Kirk Robinson of Akron, Brett Patrick of North Manchester and Ron Day of Plymouth.
The 103rd IHSAA state tournament will conclude Saturday with the four state finals contests at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Patrick will work the Class 1-A final at 10:30 a.m. between Triton (20-5) and Borden (23-3). It will be the first State Finals assignment for Patrick, who is the son of Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball coach and Hall of Famer Bill Patrick.
Robinson will officiate the Class 2-A title game at approximately 12:45 p.m. between Bowman Academy (17-9) and Linton-Stockton (24-3). Robinson will be working his 13th State Finals event, which includes boys and girls basketball and volleyball. Robinson, who serves as secretary/treasurer of the Northern Indiana Officials Association, also worked the Class 2-A girls basketball state championship game on March 2 in Terre Haute.
Day will work the Class 3-A title tilt Saturday evening at 6 p.m., which pits Fort Wayne Concordia (23-4) versus Greensburg (25-1). It will be the sixth State Finals in boys or girls basketball for the Plymouth resident.
