Mercer Picked For Jr. All-Stars
INDIANAPOLIS – Mack Mercer of Plymouth is among the 18 juniors named to the Junior All-Stars group announced today by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
Mercer, a 6-9 forward, was named to the Core Six team. Mercer averaged a team-high 19 points-per-game this season for the Pilgrims. He helped lead Plymouth to a 21-4 record and a Class 3-A sectional championship. The Pilgrims lost 70-60 in overtime to Andrean in a Class 3-A regional final contest.
The Core Six group also includes James Blackmon Jr. (Fort Wayne Luers), Trevon Bluiett (Park Tudor), JaQuan Lyle (Evansville Bosse), Trey Lyles (Indianapolis Tech) and Bryant McIntosh (Greensburg).
Selected for the North Six were C.J. Coleman (Mt. Vernon-Fortville), Grant Evans (Wapahani), Aaron Korn (Frankton), D.J. McCall (Fort Wayne Concordia), Tayler Persons (Kokomo) and Tyler Wideman (Lake Central).
The South Six group includes Aaron Brennan (Guerin Catholic), Ernie Duncan (Evansville Harrison), Jacob Johnson (Mooresville), Zach McRoberts (Carmel), Sean Sellers (Greensburg) and P.J. Thornton (Brebeuf).
The Junior All-Stars are scheduled to play the Kentucky Jr. All-Stars in games on June 7 and 8. The sites and times for those games will be announced later. The team will also play the Indiana Senior All-Star team on June 10 and 12 with the sites and times for those games also to be announced later. Members of the Core Six will play in all four games, while players on the North Six and the South Six will each play in two of the contests.
The coaching staff for the Jr. All-Stars will include Plymouth’s Ryan Bales. The Pilgrims head coach, along with Brad Dickey of Tipton, will be assistant coaches. Brent Chitty of Columbus East will be the head coach of the Jr. All-Stars.
