Wawasee Cancels Saturday Events
SYRACUSE — It was inevitable given how the weather has been this week, but Wawasee made it official with its three varsity sports scheduled for in-season matches this Saturday.
The Jim Eger Relays at Elkhart Memorial have been canceled, which Wawasee were scheduled to have both the boys and girls track teams active. No make-up date was announced for the Relays.
The Wawasee season opener for the softball program was canceled Saturday afternoon, negating the game at Westview. No make-up date was announced for the Westview contest.
These cancellations pile on top of the boys and girls track meets that were scratched today, the boys at home against West Noble and the girls at Westview with West Noble also involved. The two track meets have no had a make-up date announced. The girls softball scrimmage was scratched both last Saturday and earlier this week and will not be made up.
Baseball’s scrimmage at Churubusco to be held this Saturday has not officially been called. First pitch would be held at 1 p.m. if weather permits.
Wawasee’s boys and girls track teams are scheduled to visit Columbia City next Monday. The softball program are slated to host Lakeland – the team that knocked it out of the IHSAA state tournament last spring – next Monday and the baseball program are listed to visit Bethany Christian Tuesday afternoon. Girls tennis are to open its schedule next Thursday at home against Central Noble.
