North Webster Public Library
Whether writing a report, researching your family tree, or deciding on your next vacation spot, the North Webster Public Library is your “go-to” source for finding out just about anything you want to know.
The NWPL offers over a dozen comprehensive, easy-to-search databases with information ranging from local to worldwide.
Need to study for your GED or prepare for a state licensing or college entrance exam? You can find study tools and practice tests through our Inspire Databases. Trying to find where your great-great-grandmother is buried? Just log onto the NWPL’s national genealogy databases and cemetery indexes.
If you’re planning an overseas trip, find out what you need to know on the A to Z World Travel database. The Youth Service Department offers online homework helps for school age children and teens, kid-friendly search engines, and fun learning games. Prospective college students can access information on colleges, careers, and scholarships.
Using your NWPL card, most of the databases can be accessed from the comfort of your home computer through the library’s website by clicking on the “Research Tools” tab at the top of the home page.
Clicking on the “Youth Resources” tab takes you to online resources for children and teens. Of course, all of our databases are available on the Library’s public computers. Our knowledgeable staff is always available to assist you in finding the information you need.
In addition to online helps, the Youth Services Department offers other educational resources that parents can tap into for their children. Home schoolers and Sunday school teachers will be interested in our NEST workbooks.
With pages that can be photocopied, these workbooks correspond with biographical and biblical DVDs and make a great teaching tool. Our Book Buddy Kits provide an entertaining way to teach kids about a variety of subjects such as math and science, animals, community helpers, and many others.
BeginINbooks is a program that helps young children develop early literacy skills and is held at 5:30 p.m. the third Monday of each month September through May. Although the winter session of Preschool Story Time ends on April 10, a six-week summer session will start up in early summer. Mrs. Pam and her staff are always glad to help you find resources for your children.
To help our staff provide the best service possible to our patrons, the Library will close early at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, for staff training.
Be sure to mark your calendars for April 18, for the big National Library Week Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Iditarod Dog Sled Musher Karen Land will be guest speaker with a special appearance by her dog Borage. A native Hoosier, Karen will share her daring experiences running the grueling 1,150-mile Alaskan dog sled race.
The public is invited to this free evening of food, prizes, and fun.
