Doris Marie Kubacki
Doris Marie Kubacki, 88, of Pierceton, Ind., passed away peacefully Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, Ind., surrounded by her loving sons who adored her.
She was born July 19, 1924, in Jackson, Mich., to William E. and Sophia (Anderson) Ax. On May 6, 1950, she was united in marriage to Leon Kubacki in Manistee, Mich. Leon preceded her in death on July 20, 1999.
After moving from Manistee to Pierceton in 1952, she was a homemaker busy raising her family. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Warsaw.
In addition to being a busy wife and mother, she was a member of the Pierceton Home Economics Club, and volunteered for the American Cancer Society and Mobile Meals. Doris, along with husband Leon, were recognized as “Pierceton Citizens of the Year” in 1984 for their many contributions to the well-being of their community. Her family will fondly remember her for a passionate love of reading and promoting literacy within our community. Furthermore, they will remember her longtime loyalty as a Chicago Cubs baseball and Indiana University basketball fan.
Doris is survived by sons: Michael L. (Rebecca) Kubacki, Syracuse, Ind.; William R. Kubacki, West Des Moines, Iowa; Peter A. (Judy) Kubacki, Mason, Mich.; James P. (Kittie) Kubacki, Carmel, Ind.; and Thomas E. Kubacki, Pierceton; a sister: Betty (Harold) Monske, Inkster, Mich.; a sister-in-law: Alice (William) Axce, Bear Lake, Mich.; four grandchildren: Katherine Kubacki, Warsaw; Matthew (Lindsay) Kubacki, Carmel, Ind.; Alexander Kubacki, Carmel; Rachel Kubacki, New York City, N.Y.; great-grandchildren: Isabella and Roman Silva, Warsaw; and three step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother: William Axce; and beloved son: John C. Kubacki.
A private family service will be held in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, Ind. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton. Pastor Stuart Floyd of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw, will officiate. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
