Man Arrested On Rape Charge
Warsaw Police have arrested a local man for an alleged weekend rape that happened near downtown Warsaw.
The victim notified police Saturday evening saying she was walking near Fort Wayne Avenue on her way to meet friends at the Detroit Street McDonald’s. She said a man in a dark colored hoodie began following her. The man, now identified as Anthony J. Fulton, 24, allegedly caught up to her and forced the victim between houses where she said he raped her.
As police searched the area, they received a tip of a possible suspect that was staying two houses north of where the incident allegedly occurred. Police made contact with Fulton, of 221 N. Fort Wayne Ave., and initially arrested him on charges of possession of a synthetic drug after officer’s located paraphernalia and a substance believed to be synthetic cannabinoids.
The subsequent investigation provided probable cause for the arrest of Fulton for rape and criminal deviate conduct by force. He is being held at the Kosciusko County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Warsaw Police was assisted in their investigation by the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
