Walter G. Earl
Walter G. Earl, 87, of Cromwell, Ind., passed away at 10:45 p.m. Thursday April 4, 2013, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville, Ind.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1925, in Woodbury Falls, N.Y., to John Gilbert and Sarah (Jones) Earl. He married Margaret Norton on Dec. 17, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo.
Walter served his country honorably in WWII in the United States Navy. He lived in Fort Wayne, Ind., for nearly 40 years and was active in the Civil Rights Movement. He was Director of the East Wayne Street Center before owning his business, WE Supply in Fort Wayne, for over 20 years. He enjoyed gardening and he grew vegetables for the Ligonier Food Pantry for several years.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters: Crista Earl, New York, N.Y.; Janette DeBoissiere, Columbia, Md.; Karen Luehrs of Wilmot, Ind.; and Diane Earl, Fort Wayne; five grandsons; two sisters: Irene Sauer, Salisbury Mills, N.Y.; and Edith Dugan, Charleston, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters.
A cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center in Ligonier.
