Valley Track Teams Drop Pair
BREMEN – The Tippecanoe Valley boys and girls track teams each competed in a non-conference triangular meet Tuesday night.
On the boys side, host Bremen won the meet with a team score of 100. Culver scored 41 points and Valley 26.
Host Bremen also won both meets on the girls’ side with 78.3 points. Culver scored 47.3 points and Valley finished with 41.3.
Nolan Sponseller led the way for the Valley boys’ squad. He won the 400 with a top time of 54.04 and also placed second in the 200.
Derrick Cunningham placed second in the long jump and the high jump and Michael Thacker in the 100 for the Vikings. Third-place finishers for Valley were Thacker in the 200, Nick Gamble in the shot put and Shay Merley in the 800.
The duo of Jazzmine Brown and Brooklyn Connelly led the effort for the Valley girls’ team. Brown won the 400 in 1:04.1, while Connelly topped the field in the 800 in a winning effort of 2:50.8.
Connor Fraser placed second in both the shot put and discus for Valley. The Vikings were also second in the 3,200 and 1,600 relay events. Third-place performances were turned in by Hayley Hunsberger in the discus, Katherine Ledford in the 100 hurdles, Caylie Teel in the 100 and K. Tucker in the 200.
