The Lakeland Art Association will be holding its annual juried art show soon and is encouraging area artists to participate. The show is open to all with few exceptions.

The prospectus, explaining the rules for this year’s competition, is available by calling 574-594-9950 or at the LAA Gallery, 107 N. First St., Pierceton. Gallery hours are 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

The public will be invited to view the competition (and the winning work) once the judging has been completed. A reception will also be held May 5, when the prizes will be awarded and the winners announced. The area high school competition will be awarded at that same reception.

Another event coming up at the LAA Gallery will be a one day workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4. Diana Fair, a well-respected colored pencil artist from Fort Wayne, will be teaching the workshop. Contact LAA at for more information. Nearby shops offer lunch or you may bring a sack lunch. Materials are not required, but are welcome.
