Syracuse Man Attacked In Home Invasion
A home invasion in Syracuse is under investigation this morning and one person was treated at an area hospital for injuries during the attack.
At about 12:34 a.m. this morning, 911 operators received an emergency call from a residence in the 600 block of North Harrison Street, Syracuse. The victim, Jeremy Smith, told the first arriving officer that he heard someone pounding on his back door. When he went to answer it, two male subjects, both dressed in black and wearing ski masks, attacked him.
One of the suspects was said to be armed with a handgun. The victim managed to get away from the suspects and ran to a neighbor’s house to summon help, according to a police press release.
K-9 units and officers from Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, North Webster and Winona Lake Police Departments responded to the scene and assisted Syracuse Police in the search for the suspects.
Both suspects were described as white males, approximately 5’8” to 6’0” with medium builds. The victim was transported to Goshen Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation into this home invasion is continuing.
