Phyllis Jean McKillip
Phyllis Jean McKillip, 68, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and formerly of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 10 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, in the home of her son.
She was born July 24, 1944, in Kingsport, Tenn., to Tony and Dolly (McCracken) Hensley. She was a 1962 graduate of Leesburg High School, Leesburg, Ind., and a 1986 graduate of Southwest Texas University.
On Feb. 11, 1993, she married Brian K. McKillip in Austin, Texas.
She taught 20 years for the Austin Independent School District, retired in 1994. She was the owner of Maplewood Hairdressers, Fort Wayne, and of Austin Beauty College, Austin, Texas.
Phyllis was a member of the Wolf Klan Mother for Red Nation Chickamauga Cherokee. She was a published author of 10 books, her pen name was Truth Seeker.
She is survived by two sons: James (Sheryl) Konkle, Fort Wayne; and Joshua (Emily) Konkle, Austin, Texas; a granddaughter: Grace Konkle, Fort Wayne; three grandsons: Joseph Konkle, Fort Wayne; Noah Konkle, Austin, Texas; and Brendan Paul-Wood, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Brian K. McKillip; a son: Jeffrey Konkle; and her parents: Tony and Dolly Hensley.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 20, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service will follow at noon in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
