Russell T. Bertram
Russell T. Bertram, 88, of Cromwell, Ind., passed away at 11:10 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Avalon Village in Ligonier, Ind.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1924 in Syracuse, Ind., to Russell Henry and Ann Jane (Hynes) Bertram. He married Gloria Werker on June 30, 1946 in Kimmell, Ind. She preceded him in death.
He graduated from Cromwell High School and then spent 3 years serving his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in Puerto Rico. He was employed briefly at Harper’s Hardware before becoming a self-employed electrician. He was a member of Sparta Church of Christ. He was a member of Stone’s Trace Historical Society for 30 years. He was a member of The Clock Association, Chapter 26. He was a past Commander of the Cromwell American Legion and later, a member of the Ligonier American Legion.
He is survived by a son: Roger (Linda) Bertram, Cromwell; and two daughters: Edith Van Houten, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Dawn (Robert) Ray, Churubusco, Ind.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation took place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Yeager Funeral Home 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Ind. A funeral service in his honor will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 15, at Yeager Funeral Home. Pastor Curry Anne Hostetler will officiate. Burial will be in Sparta Cemetery.
