Syracuse Parks Department Hosts Safety Day
The Syracuse Parks Department will be hosting the 2013 Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Syracuse Community Center.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature several different opportunities for attendees to become better acquainted with various safety procedures. This will include car seat inspections by the Kosciusko County Safe Kids and Elkhart County Safe Kids Coalition, a bicycle safety course by the Kosciusko County 4-H and a fire safety course by Turkey Creek Fire Department.
The event will also feature a drug awareness course complete with a K-9 demonstration provided by the Indiana State Police, a life preserver demonstration and disaster education provided by Kosciusko County American Red Cross and a boating safety course provided by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Fingerprinting and I.D. Kits will be provided by the Syracuse Police Department.
In addition to the numerous safety courses guests are also welcomed to check out the emergency vehicle display that includes a fire truck, ambulance and police car.
Volunteers are provided by the Syracuse Lions Club, Boy Scout Troop 728, Wawasee Kiwanis and the Wawasee Pee Wee Football team. Sponsors are Wilson Insurance Management and Pine Crest Marine. If there is rain, the event will be moved inside the Syracuse Community Center.
