Carroll Blanks Warsaw Netters
WARSAW – The tough part of the schedule did not get any easier for the Warsaw girls tennis team Monday night.
The winless Tigers dropped a 5-0 final to a strong Fort Wayne Carroll squad in non-conference play at WCHS.
The closest match of the night came at No. 2 singles. Carroll’s Ashley Hoagland rallied to defeat Jacqueline Sasso 4-6, 6-0, 7-5.
Carroll won in straight sets at both No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Rachel Sutton defeated Sarah Boyle 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 for the Chargers and Jenna Jackson topped Blair Findlay 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3.
The Chargers won at No. 1 doubles as the team of Mackenzie Schoeff and Audrey Mallers defeated Olivia Wallin and Marley Smith 6-1, 6-1. Carroll completed the shutout as Taylor Stanchin and Catherine Curtis beat Lindsay Sciarra and Abbi Baum 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Warsaw drops to 0-4 on the season. The Tigers, who are 0-2 in conference play, have lost to Fort Wayne Canterbury, Northridge, Plymouth and Carroll.
Winning for the Warsaw JV Monday were the doubles teams of Mattie Doran and Rachel Alexander and Shelby Roberts and Mallorie Stiver.
Warsaw hosts NLC foe Elkhart Memorial Tuesday and plays at league opponent Wawasee Thursday.
