Diaper Drive To Help Family Of Firefighter Stricken With Brain Cancer
Warsaw Firefighter Jeremy Williams is organizing an event to help a fellow firefighter and friend who has been stricken with brain cancer.
Scott Thomas, 30, is a Goshen firefighter and paramedic who lives here in Warsaw. Thomas, whose wife, Stacy, is 7 months pregnant with the couple’s second child, was just diagnosed with a Stage 2 cancerous brain tumor.
With a trip to Cleveland Clinic in his very near future, Thomas will undergo a surgery to remove the mass. Afterward, he will endure months of chemotherapy while is second child is due to be born in mid-June.
To help his best friend, Williams is organizing a diaper drive aimed at getting the family ready for their new arrival. Thomas will be required to take a medical leave from his job. “I’m asking people to purchase diapers, wipes, Walmart gift cards or BaBies-R-Us gift cards,” said Williams, noting the couple already has baby furniture and larger items from their first child, Addyson.
The baby items may be dropped off at Warsaw Fire Station 2, located on East Center Street, Warsaw.
Anyone wishing to make a financial donation may do so to the Scott Thomas Fund that has been established at Interra Credit Union by the Goshen Fire Department Union. Checks may be mailed to Goshen Central Fire Station, 209 N. 3rd St., Goshen, IN 46528, with “Scott Thomas Fund” in the memo line or donate directly into the account at any Interra branch.
Anyone wanting more information may contact Williams at [email protected] or 260-519-3881. “Every little bit will add up and this will be a huge way to help them out,” said Williams.
There is also a Facebook page that Williams asks everyone to join and share with their own friends.
