Child In Protective Custody After Meth Lab Find
A 4-year-old child was placed in protective custody Tuesday when Kosciusko County officers attempting to serve a warrant located a meth lab in the child’s home.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies went to 9556 W. Old Rd. 30 in Etna Green at about 3:43 p.m. yesterday to serve a warrant on Kayla Anne Waltz, 25, for criminal conversion. While at the residence, deputies were met by an occupant of the home who directed them to what appeared to be an active one-pot method methamphetamine lab.
Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers were then called to the home and located two additional individuals inside the residence. They were identified as Waltz, of Etna Green, and Eric Michael Graham, 28, of Warsaw. The 4-year-old child was also present.
While conducting the investigation, officers located precursors commonly used in the production of methamphetamine that had been discarded in an outside burn barrel.
Waltz and Graham were arrested and preliminarily charged with felony possession of a chemical reagent and/or precursors with intent to manufacture methamphetamine. Waltz was also arrested on the outstanding active Kosciusko County warrant. She is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail with a $12,000 bond.
Graham is also currently in the Kosciusko County Jail with a $2,000 bond.
Police were also assisted on the scene by the Department of Child Services.
