Cougars Clip Trojans
BOURBON – A clean sweep at singles powered New Prairie to a 4-1 win over Triton in Northern State Conference girls tennis action Thursday.
The Trojans got their win at No. 1 doubles as the team of Marissa Ross and Holly Stogsdill won 6-4, 6-1 over Ally Marley and Lisa Fischer.
Riana Sass, Olivia Kuczmanski and Nicole VanHeste all won in straight sets in singles play for the Cougars.
Sass defeated Kaelyn Mason 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1, while Kuczmanski topped Carrie Slabaugh 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 and VanHeste beat Michal Sherer-Berry 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3.
New Prairie also won at No. 2 doubles as the tam of Sami Vogeler and Brooke Kresca topped Cassie Irons and Shayla May 6-3, 6-1.
New Prairie improves to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in NSC action. Triton drops to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in league play.
New Prairie won the JV competition 2-0.
