Stoddard Fires Gem In Whitko Win
SOUTH WHITLEY – Alex Stoddard pitched a gem Thursday night to pace Whitko to a win over Southwood in Three Rivers Conference baseball action.
Stoddard fired a two-hitter as the host Wildcats blanked Southwood 1-0 in their league opener.
Stoddard finished with just two walks and 13 strikeouts in the complete game masterpiece.
The Wildcats scored the lone run of the contest in the home half of the first inning. Zach Snep’s RBI single plated Tanner Gaff for the only run that Stoddard would need.
Snep went 2-3 at the plate and stole two bases for Whitko. Gaff was also 2-3 at the dish with a double for the winners.
Robbie Cole took the pitching loss for Southwood. He allowed seven hits, while walking two and fanning five.
Whitko improves to 9-4 overall. The Wildcats play a doubleheader at Southern Wells Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
