Mason Lifts Triton To Tennis Win
BOURBON – Kaelyn Mason rallied for a three-set win to give the Triton girls tennis team its first conference win of the season Friday.
Mason outlasted Yuma Yabuta at No. 1 singles as the Trojans edged John Glenn 3-2 in Northern State Conference play.
Mason gave Triton the clinching point with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 win.
Carrie Slabaugh won in straight sets at No. 2 singles and Cassie Irons and Shayla May won easily at No. 2 doubles for the Trojans.
Slabaugh defeated Sara Wolf 6-0, 6-3, while the team of Irons and May topped Leah Kaser and Brittnie Spornhauer 6-0, 6-2.
Glenn won at No. 2 singles as Julia Jacobson topped Michal Scherer-Berry 7-5, 6-4. The Falcons also took the No. 1 doubles match as Ally Pudlo and Kyler Columbia beat Marissa Ross and Holly Stogsdill 6-4, 6-2.
Triton improves to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in NSC action.
Triton’s Trya Fakes won in JV action 8-5 at No. 1 singles.
