Sandra Sue (Wuertley) Harter
Sandra Sue (Wuertley) Harter, 72, a South Whitley, Ind., native, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at her home in New Braunfels, Texas.
She was born Dec. 22, 1940, in Huntington, Ind., to John Phillip and Elsie Marcell (Householder) Wuertley. Her formative years were spent in South Whitley.
She was employed at Chamberlin Products from 1963 to 1968 and Gripco from 1970 to 1976 then moved to Broomfield, Colo., where she was employed at the Coors Ceramic Company in Golden. In 2000 she moved to the New Braunfels area, working at Hill Country Resort from 2006 to 2009.
On May 17, 2009, she married Charles E. Harter.
Her memberships included Grace Memorial Church in New Braunfels, First Baptist Church while in South Whitley and “Classy Ladies” Chapter of the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her husband: Charles; eight children: Debra S. Jackson, Columbia City, Ind.; James R. (Jana Allison) Jackson Jr., Puckett Miss.; Lorie A. (Michael) Schroeder, Northglenn Colo., Kimberly L. (Richard) Thompson, Glendale, Ariz.; Scott W. (Kamala) Hollon, Surprise, Ariz.; Xocil Ratliff, New Braunfels, Texas; Michael Harter, New Braunfels; and Beth (David) Schone, San Antonio, Texas; a daughter-in-law: Pamela K. Jackson, South Whitley; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother: Carl E. (Susan) Wuertley, Evergreen, Colo.; two sisters: Helen M. (Ken) Baker, Jefferson, Colo.; and LaVonna J. (Joel Cox) Harper, Thorton, Colo.; and a sister-in-law: Delois Hollon, Glendale, Ariz.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, April 30, at Miller & Sons Chapel, South Whitley. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Whitley County Habitat for Humanity or Lighthouse Homeless Shelter.
