Palais Royale Voted Best Meeting Site
The Palais Royale in South Bend was voted “2013 Best Meeting Site for Larger Groups” in the Greater South Bend/Michiana area by readers of Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly. Voting results for the annual reader survey are announced in the recently released Spring-Summer 2013 issue. The Century Center Convention Center was voted co-winner in this category.
The historic Palais Royale ballroom at the Morris Performing Arts Center opened in 1922 and hosted all the major big bands of the day: Duke Ellington, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Harry James, Guy Lombardo and Cab Calloway. The Palais was the place for celebrations and gatherings and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The ballroom underwent a restoration in 2002 and reopened on New Year’s Eve with a gala dinner/dance. Today the Palais Royale is South Bend’s premier event facility known for outstanding cuisine and superb service.
