Spin Doctors Headlining Classic Rock Concert
Scrambling to book a classic rock band for the June 14 annual Classic Rock Concert in Warsaw’s Central Park, Warsaw Parks Recreation Director Staci Young pulled out a big win today by bringing forth a contract for the Spin Doctors.
Young initially booked Blue Öyster Cult for the summer event, but the band backed out shortly after the announcement saying they inadvertently double booked their schedule. During the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety meeting this morning, Young said she received confirmation late last week that Music of Spin Doctors Inc. F/S/O Spin Doctors will appear for the 90-minute concert on Friday, June 14.
The Spin Doctors thrived in the early 1990s when, in 1991, their debut of the album, Pocket Full of Kryptonite, became both a musical and cultural phenomenon. It was one of the 100 best-selling albums of the 1990s, with sales of more than five million copies in the U.S. and an additional five million overseas.
During the Pocket Full of Kryptonite 20th Anniversary Touring Party 8 concert in Warsaw, popular songs like “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong,” “Two Princes,” “Jimmy Olsen’s Blues,” “What Time Is It?” and “Forty or Fifty” will be performed.
The Classic Rock Concert is free to attend. Opening act is Kyxx, set to take the stage at 6:30 p.m. with the Spin Doctors to perform at 8 p.m.
According to their Facebook page, Kyxx is a progressive rock band offering classic rock favorites and hits from the past 20 years.
